Abby McMillan, Technical Theatre Skills Officer at the Scottish Drama Training Network shares one of her dining room chairs for #TakeASeat, circa 1960 and usually very comfortable! But after 5 months, not so much so she's added a few cushions to soften her day as she's working from home, for not only the Scottish Drama Training Network as she's also a MEd learning and teaching in the performing arts student as well as teaching on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Junior Academy production level two. So, this chair has had a lot of use these 5 nearly 6 months ... and no end in sight.
The first time Abby went to the theatre was when she was around 8 or 9 years old and her school took the class to His Majesty's theatre (in Aberdeen) to see the #VoyageOfTheDawnTreader. She doesn't remember the company but she does remember vividly seeing into the wings (before she knew what wings were) and during the scene when the Dawn Treader was sailing, big wooden waves appeared across the stage with the boat in the middle. Her memory of the wings was from her seat in the balcony and seeing people dressed in black kneeling on the floor moving the waves back and forth by hand.
She thought WOW - what an ace job that would be! She remembers it like it was yesterday.
